Bull is Out, Brilliance is In

Posted by on Dec 28, 2015 in Business, Inspiration, Marketing | 0 comments

new brandI just announced that I’m doing a huge rebrand.  It has taken a lot of thought, courage, and listening to lots of folks to get to the point in my business where I realized that it was time to step into the deeper message I’ve been heading towards.

It all started with the bull.  My bull, I love my bulls!  But they were also my bull.  In the same way that my clients have suffered from things like:

  1. Money Bull.  And, sometimes, it’s not the fear of not enough, it’s the fear of abundance that ends up stopping their profit potential.
  2. Sales Bull. Relying on referrals, and thinking that asking for business is slimey and manipulative.
  3. Perception Bull. Wanting to grow a bigger business, but afraid of becoming bigger – whether that’s around fear of bigger ego, not enough time for self, or not wanting to be perceived as “big” – all show stoppers!
  4. Trust Bull.  Knowing it’s time to hire help, but unable to trust anyone to do the necessary work “in the same way/as well” as you do it yourself.   The list of bull goes on and on….

Out of my focus on the bull, I started seeing something amazing happen.  As my clients confronted, and busted, their bull, they were able to step into a bigger version of themselves, and do some pretty amazing things.  This is what was on the other side of their bull, and it was beautiful to see.  They started doing things like:

  • Having more confidence in their work
  • Raising their rates to align with their increased sense of value
  • Gaining the courage to put together, and lead, speaking events
  • Stepping out and getting more clients more easily

And as I witnessed them growing, always with a sense of joy, encouragement and excitedness, I realized that my own work was bigger than I thought.  Busting the bull, I realized, is simply a leg of the journey I take my clients on.  It’s where we start, but it is by no means where we end.

Where I truly take my clients is to their brilliance.  Busting the bull helps us uncover what that raw, beautiful, brilliance is.  And THAT is where we can really start to get to the results they want, and help them shine all the way to profit.  That point of brilliance is so unique, and special that it offers a unique place for the foundation of each person’s success, and it’s so much bigger than the bull, that I had to actually change my messaging, and my brand image, to really step into the amazing power that is created by you, when you are bold enough to step into your own.

Here are a few things I’ve seen and helped shift along the way:

  • Marketing.  Doing various marketing activities because “everyone else is doing that, so I guess I should too” is not going to grow your business.  Neither is word-of-mouth referrals.  That just puts you in an endless see-saw cycle of too much, or too little, opportunity.  Marketing from your brilliance, however, creates the source of unstoppable profits and opportunities.
  • Confidence.  It doesn’t grow on trees, and it doesn’t happen because you got a new client.  It happens because you focus all your efforts around your core brilliance, and let that become a magnet for the people that absolutely adore your specific energy and brilliance.
  • Money.  It’s not the real struggle.  It’s simply the result of you struggling against your brilliance, or aligning with it.  When your bull is covering your brilliance, you have less money.  When you get your bull out of the way, and let your brilliance lead the way, profit is the unstoppable result.
  • Selling.  Selling for money is what makes sales feel manipulative and evil.  But when you realize you are not exchanging a service for a dollar, but, rather, being paid to share your unique brilliance to make the world a better place, you enter an entirely new paradigm.

I needed to be the mirror of that growth into brilliance, and that’s why I am so excited by what’s about to change, and grow because when you look at this new mirror, I’m hoping you can see your own bigger vision reflected in it.  It is by removing the obstacles to your unique brilliance, and learning how to lead with it, that your business truly becomes the powerful representation of who you are.

In just over a week, we go live with the new site, and I can’t wait to share it with you!

I’m Finally Telling The Truth

Posted by on Dec 21, 2015 in Inspiration, Marketing | 0 comments

bull headI’ve been telling lies for a while.  Yep, my blog has been the focus of numerous lies over the years, but today, for a change, I’m going to tell the truth.

You see, for years, I’ve been telling you about the bull.  I built my business around it, literally.  But the truth is, as I’ve grown my business, I’ve learned that I have bull, too!  And, you know what my biggest bull is?  My bull!

Yup, I’ve been putting my bull front and center – at Sponsorship tables, on my website, on my marketing materials….and I don’t need to tell you all the gory details, but it is that very same bull that lost me more business than I’d like to admit.

The good news is, I still grew my business in leaps and bounds.

I’m not telling you this because I’m writing a tell-all expose, I’m telling you this because I want to change your life.

I’m about to launch a whole new brand, and it came about because I realized that I needed to model something really important for all of you.  I am stepping in to a bigger version of me so I can show you how to do the same thing for yourself.

I started BullBusting as a way to both have fun helping people bust their bull, but also because it was a fun, and creative way to combine my love of cows and bulls into what became an attention-getting logo and website. As I move over to my new brand, I realize that the bull I’ve been leading with has actually been about me and drawing attention, when in fact, I’m in business for you.

bullI still love cows and bulls, that won’t change!  (Nor will my personality.) But, listening to many of my clients, and those that I didn’t get, my clients don’t work with me because of my cute bulls, they work with me because of my expertise.  And, frankly, all these cartoony bulls give the impression that I’m fun and silly (true!), but they don’t showcase my expertise and sophistication one bit.  In fact, because they actually have made people doubt my expertise, I’ve had to work harder to overcome that perception, and realized it was time to lead with my own brilliance, not the bull.

And that’s the theme I’m stepping in to – leading with your brilliance.  So, I realized, it was time to let my own brilliance lead the way, instead of my bull, just like I hope each of my clients learns to do.

What I learned is:

  • You gotta start someplace and go with it!  I am so glad I started with my bulls – they were the perfect starting place for me, I don’t regret that one bit.
  • A brand is about more than a picture.  As I began to grow my business, and see the disconnect between my expertise and my branding, I didn’t run and change everything.  Instead, I listened.  I listened to feedback from my clients, and to the words and actions of the people that did not become my clients.  I learned a lot.  I let myself learn because that helped me understand what my value is, who it’s for, and to get a lot clearer in my messaging.  It got more and more clear that the picture of a bull did not represent the entire experience of working with me, and since my true value is in helping my clients access what’s beyond their bull, it also didn’t clearly represent what they would gain from working with me.

And so, it’s time for me to step up to a bigger game, so that I can challenge you to do the same in your business.  Let me tell you, it was a very emotional decision to remove my bulls from my branding.  Despite all the learning, they have been with me for a long time, and I had to fight the feeling that I was somehow deserting a part of myself.  (If you’ve ever moved on to a new focus in your own business, you will know what I mean!)

However, since I made that decision, amazing things have been happening.  You see, my new mission is to help everyone lead their business with their brilliance.  Leading with my own brilliance, I was almost crushed during a speaking gig by a room full of people wanting to take me up on my offer!

WSR2I have spent every spare moment talking to people in the past 6 weeks who want to bust their bull and boost their brilliance, and I’ve been closing clients at a much higher rate than ever before.

This is what I want for you, and I’m so excited about what’s still yet to come.

So, keep an eye out for the scoop on my rebrand!

Today’s Lie: You Don’t Have a Choice

Posted by on Nov 24, 2015 in Inspiration | 0 comments

Today’s blog is a video.  I was just in France right before the horrible events that recently took place in Paris.  I had taken some photos and videos of what was a wonderful trip.  I decided to use them for inspiration instead of staying stuck in grief.  Today’s blog is about our power to choose.  While I was on my recent vacation, I was struck by how easy it is to forget that every moment is a choice.  Hit the play button and I hope you will be inspired to remember the power to choose in your own life.

Today’s Lie: Your Dreams Will Never Come True

Posted by on Nov 17, 2015 in General | 0 comments

The-Bull-3-300x84On my recent vacation I got thinking about dreams.  How many times have you thought, “If only that dream came true…” or, “if only I had enough money, I’d…”  Dreams are what illuminate us, what inspires us, what draws us forward.  And yet, we spend more time making excuses about our dreams than making our dreams.  Time, money, and bust/responsibilities top the list.  (You know that in the past week alone, you’ve said, “I would but I just don’t have the time” or some form of one of these excuses as a reason NOT to do something you actually really want to do!)

The-BustYou see, what I realized is, it’s up to us to MAKE our dreams come true.  A dream doesn’t just magically transpire, a dream comes true because we eliminate all excuses that stand in the way of that dream and then make it happen.  I made a little video I am sharing here, and I’d love to hear how it inspired you, and what dream you will MAKE come true next.  Just comment below.
